	The Chapel of Our Lady of Mount was constructed in the year 1510 by Alphinsi De Albuquerque. This chapel is situated in the main city of Panjim the capital city of Goa. This chapel was built to mark the victory of Alphinsi, one of the Portuguese travelers who conquered Goa. This chapel was built in a typical Portuguese style. In this church there are 3 altars, these altars are dedicated to our Lady of Mount such as St. Andrew and St. Anthony. The design of this chapel is so pleasant that it gives a pleasure to the eyes. The material used to build this chapel is Laterite and the exterior is plastered with a lime mortar. In the 16th century king Adil shah had attacked Goa on Portuguese and he made weaponry station next to the chapel on the hill. Due to this the Portuguese had to face a heavy damage on their force. This chapel is vaulted and has magnitude of a reasonable church, which has three altars. The middle altar is dedicated to Our Lady of Mount. There is a two storied building that isattached to this chapel; there are some cells and apartment that are there for the residents of the chapel. There is a huge hall that is there for few devotees, that is rectangular in shape and the direction of this hall is East-west. There is the main sanctuary to the east end and a mezzanine house that leads to the spiral staircase that meets the entrance of the chapel. There are sacristy and vestry that are attached to the main sanctuary. This chapel is constructed on a laterite hill and this forms a very strong base for the foundation of the chapel. There are masses that are conducted on every Sunday. There are special masses on 8th of every month and there was a mass that was celebrated 8th September every year. This mass has been conducted on the Sunday that comes after 8th September. This chapel is decorated on the eve of Christmas. People come here offer prayers and light candles in front of the main altar. People from across the world visit this church without fail. They pray for good health of their loved ones and ask for forgiveness for our Lady of Mount. There are some people who visit this place for meditating in peace and religious place.
