Medak Church

Medak Church is the only largest diocese in entire Asia and is the second largest in the whole world. The main tower of this church is about 173 feet's high and is one of the best and finest examples of Gothic architecture. This is one of the most glorious attractions of this city. This church is located in Medak city that is situated at a distance of about 100kilometers away from Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. This church is built with pure white granite and is in Gothic style. This church is built by C.W. Posnett and over an area ofabout 1000 acres of land. This beautiful and grand church was sanctified in the year 1942 on 24th December and it took ten long years for completion.
Legends say that this popular church was built with love and expertise of perfection. Medak Church was born out of the famine that had stuck Medak during the First World War.
This church is famous for its large and pointed stained glass windows, these windows narrates stories from the holy book of Christians 'bible' in a kaleidoscope of colors that is visible only in solar light. The spore bell towers is built with Italian tiles and stands on a height of about 175 feet's high, length of the tower is 200 feet and has a width of about 100 feet respectively. The roof of this church is sound proof, that is made out of hallow sponge material. This has an impressive style of tombs. There is a window which represents the birth scene of Lord Jesus, Mother Mary, prophets and astrologers. To the left are the painted fructification scenes and in the centre are the bright paintings of Jesus' ascension. Each window of the church is made up of numerous bits of stained glass skillfully set into the massive stone windows. Towards north there is a window which offers a covering to the altar and is very beautiful. There is a wonderful color spectrum that is produced by these windows inside the church early in the morning and late in the afternoon; it is amazing and is just beyond words. The huge hall of the church has a capacity of holding about 5000 people at a time for prayers. Medak Church century old cathedral stands out as the finest examples of architecture in India.
People break all the man made barriers such as creed, caste and religion for visiting this church. There are thousands of people who visit this place every year during the feast. Devotees visit this place to seek the blessings of lord. People light candles in front of the lord and ask for forgiveness to lord.
The festival of Easter day, Christmas and New Year is celebrated with great pomp and fervor. This church is decorated on the eve of Christmas and there are special masses that are conducted on this day.

Railways: Nearest railways station is the Kamareddy station that is at a distance about 60kilometers away from Medak Church. There are regular train services available from Kamareddy to all major cities of India. Kamareddy is connected to all the main cites ofAndhra Pradesh via rail line.
Road Way: There are state transport and luxury bus services available from here to all the major cities of India. There are even local bus and taxi services available from bus station to Medak Church.
Best Time To Visit:
Ideal time to visit Medak Church is during Easter days and in Christmas, as these are the main festival of Christians that are celebrated with great enthusiasm.
