The Church of Our Lady of The Rosary

The Church Of Our Lady Of The Rosary is one of the most significant places of worship for Christians. This church is at a distance of just 8 kilometers away from Panjim the capital city of Goa. This is considered as the spiritual back bone of Goa, India. This church was built in the 15th century, when the Portuguese colony had taken over the state. The Church Of Our Lady Of The Rosary is marked as the first ever victory of the Portuguese in Goa. This church was built in the year 1544 and has some impressive structure that has historical importance; hence it is the most visited church in Goa.
The Church Of Our Lady Of The Rosary is located on the sport where Alphonso De Albuquerque observed the conquest Goa in the year 1510. This church was observed as the old Goa's parish chapel in the year 1543. Legends say that St. Francis would preach in this church every evening.
The architecture of this church is made in the Manuelin style that it is a mixture of renaissance and Gothic style. The exteriors of this church are quite simple and descent, but the interiors of the church are decorated with rich Gothic designs on the walls. The roof of this church is supported with wooden beams. There is a porch with two stories and there are round shaped towers on each side of the faade. There are all together two chapels and three altars in this church. The main altar of this church is dedicated to Nossa Senhora De Rozaria, called as our lady of Rosary. As you go through the interiors of the church you get to see that there are influences of other religion in that marvelousdecoration. There are mangos, cashew and flower decoration on the main altar of this church. There is an empty tomb of Dona Catherina in this church. Her marriage with Garicia De SA was conducted here by St Francis.
Our lady of The Rosary is honored by this name as she was Blessed Virgin Mary when she was in relationship with prayers and known as Rosary.
There is a feast that is held here to celebrate the birthday of Lady Rosary every year on 7th October. There are prayers and special masses that are conducted here with great fervor. People from all over world come here on this occasion to seek the blessings of Our Lady Rosary. Our Lady Rosary was rarely related with incretion, glorious resurrection and passion of the God's son. Besides this feast there are celebration of Easter and Christmas day. On this occasion this church is decorated with lighting and flowers all over. People visit his place to seek the blessing of Our Lady Rosary. There are no barriers of religions, creed and caste to visit this place. People visit this place to confess for their mistakes and ask for forgiveness. They light candles in the church and offer prayers.

There are regular trains that are operated from here to all the major cities of India. These railways stations are well connected with Konkan Rail lines.
Road ways: There are state transports and luxury bus services that are available form here to all the major cities of India. There are local bus and taxi services available from bus station to The Church of Our Lady. There are many other transportation facilities available in Goa.
